About this Event
Explore some of the ways you can use data in your humanities research.
During this virtual workshop, you’ll learn the basics of data curation and management. You’ll also explore some of the unique critical issues raised in data usage, both in general and for concerns tailored to humanities datasets.
You’ll be introduced to OpenRefine, an open source desktop application for data cleanup and transformation. With it, you’ll learn how to clean and manipulate data; to detect and correct potential entry errors; and to explore datasets as a precursor to analytical work.
Michael Stewart, metadata librarian, and Paige Morgan, digital publishing and copyright librarian, and head of Digital Scholarship and Publishing, will lead the workshop.
This workshop is open to the public, and is co-sponsored by the Graduate College. While no prior knowledge is required, attendees are encouraged to download OpenRefine in advance of the workshop.
Registration is required. Once registered, you will receive an email with details on how to join the workshop via Zoom.
