About this Event
Delve into the curatorial work of the students in Laura Helton’s “Into the Archives” capstone seminar.
Throughout the seminar, students created metadata and StoryMaps for the newly digitized Langston Hughes Ephemera Collection, which features programs and broadsides within Special Collections that document the travels of poet, novelist and playwright Langston Hughes. They also curated a pop-up exhibition that will be on display in Morris Library soon.
Helton, assistant professor of English, and her students will be joined by other individuals who assisted them throughout the course, which was supported by a grant from the Interdisciplinary Humanities Research Center. This includes Theresa Hessey and Curtis Small from the UD Library, Museums and Press, as well as Mali Collins-White, a doctoral candidate in English and an African-American Public Humanities Initiative fellow.
