At the UD Library, Museums and Press, we help students, faculty and the greater community nurture a lifelong love of learning. That mission takes all forms\u2014whether it\u2019s hosting a public discussion for more than one hundred people, providing the public with new skill sets, or supporting the efforts of a single student.<\/p>\n

Here, we highlight a few of those examples alongside one truly incredible way you showed your love for us.<\/p>\n

\"A<\/a>

Author and historian Wil Haygood presented \u201cA Writer Tells Stories of Freedom\u201d at the Friends of the University of Delaware Library 2019 Annual Dinner on April 29. \"John<\/a>

Librarians John Caldwell and Amanda McCollom led a workshop that taught members of the community the basics of conducting oral histories\u2014the types of questions to ask, equipment to use and ways to save the recordings\u2014at the Wilmington Public Library on April 1. This workshop is part of Delaware Humanities\u2019 DEstination: Space<\/em> initiative.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Librarians<\/a>

Librarians Grace Adeneye, Lauren Wallis and Meg Grotti (pictured above) joined Julia Oestreich, director of the University of Delaware Press, and Librarian Molly Olney-Zide at the National History Day in Delaware event on May 4 at New Castle\u2019s Gunning Bedford Middle School. They all served as judges for the contest, which had Delaware students in grades 6 through 12 create exhibitions, websites, performances and research papers on a specific theme.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Vivien<\/a>

Vivien Barnett, a student assistant in Special Collections, was awarded the 2019 UD Library, Museums and Press Student Assistant Scholarship, during the Student Assistant Reception on May 9. The $1,000 scholarship is open to student assistants who plan to pursue graduate education in library science or allied professions. This year, Barnett earns her Bachelor of Arts in art history and art conversation with a minor in museum studies. Next year, as part of the 4+1 Graduate Program in Art History for Museum Professionals here at UD, she will return for a year of graduate education before earning her Master of Arts.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Photo<\/a>

On May 15, staff from the Library, Museums and Press wore matching shirts to show their support for the University\u2019s second annual I Heart UD Giving Day. During this fundraising initiative, the Library, Museums and Press raised $9,347 from 113 donors to ensure current and future Blue Hens have the resources they need to succeed.
