Each month, we highlight a different item and share interesting facts or intriguing histories about it. There are dashing lords, dazzling debutantes and desperate mothers navigating London\u2019s social season and the marriage mart.<\/p>\n<p>The popularity of <em>Bridgerton<\/em> illustrates global interest in historical fiction. The Library\u2019s Special Collections can serve as a bridge between past and present, where modern culture meets history and literature. Highlighted below are a few of the historical texts and authors referenced within the series that are housed within Special Collections. The text allows for interesting analyses of how <em>Bridgerton<\/em> seasons one and two represent feminine expectations of Ton society during the Regency period. In three volumes<\/strong><\/em><\/a><br \/>\nJane Austen<br \/>\nPR 4034.E5. 1816<\/p>\n<p>The 1816 edition of <em>Emma<\/em> in Special Collections is presented in its original three-volume format. With both the original and contemporary single-volume formats, you can delve into deeper analysis of the novel, exploring how format impacts the narrative structure of the story and the reader\u2019s experience. A major literary figure in the Romantic Movement and a favorite on the Regency\u2019s social scene, Byron and (arguably) his most famous poem, \u201cShe Walks in Beauty,\u201d are both lauded and mocked in seasons one and two of <em>Bridgerton<\/em>. It also offers detailed explanations of the world of regency manners, social customs and fashion for both the upper and lower classes.
