The University of Delaware Library, Museums and Press is ringing in the new year with exciting news: we\u2019ve migrated our digital collections to a new platform, <\/span>AM Quartex<\/b><\/a>! This dynamic platform enhances how we showcase our collections and improves access to our digitized materials, ensuring a richer and more engaging experience for researchers, students and history enthusiasts alike.<\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019re thrilled to launch this new platform with 18 collections migrated from JSTOR and two brand-new digital collections. Both new collections were made possible thanks to the generosity and dedication of the <\/span>Friends of the UD Library<\/span><\/a>. Here\u2019s a sneak peek at what\u2019s now available.<\/span><\/p>\n

Spotlight on Two New Collections:<\/b><\/h2>\n

1. Patriotic Order of the Sons of America Collection<\/b><\/h3>\n

This fascinating collection features letters and documents exchanged between the Sons of America in Philadelphia and the <\/span>Patriotic Order of the Sons of America in Delaware<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

One highlight is a document outlining the organization\u2019s goals and commemorating <\/span>Frederick E. Stees<\/span><\/a>, a long-time member and Secretary of the national organization. Stees\u2019 dedication to patriotic service is an inspiring reminder of the organization\u2019s historical significance.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Delaware Desegregation Collection<\/b><\/h3>\n

A larger, more comprehensive collection delves into the history of <\/span>desegregation efforts in Delaware<\/span><\/a>, while also touching on national movements in education and civil rights. One captivating item, <\/span> (1979)<\/span><\/em>, discusses efforts to enrich educational programming, including the beloved <\/span>Schoolhouse Rock<\/span><\/em> series.<\/span><\/p>\n

Another standout is an article, <\/span>Getting the Facts Straight About the Effects of School Desegregation<\/span><\/i><\/a>, which addresses misconceptions about busing and racial integration with rigorously collected data.<\/span><\/p>\n

These materials provide valuable insights into the challenges and triumphs of desegregation, both locally and nationally, highlighting the enduring relevance of these efforts.<\/span><\/p>\n
