Made possible in part through support from the Unidel Foundation and Library, Museums and Press donors, the program has helped UD students save more than $700,000 in textbook costs to date.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The grants support faculty developing open educational resources (OER) or transitioning courses to more affordable materials, helping reduce costs while expanding access to high-quality learning resources.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Five faculty members received authoring grants:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Aditya Dutta<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, assistant professor of reproductive biology in the Department of Animal and Food Sciences<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Stephanie Smith Budhai<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, associate professor in the School of Education<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Catherine Heilferty<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, associate professor in the College of Health Sciences\u2019 School of Nursing<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Archana Mannem<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, assistant professor of marketing in the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Marshall Green<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, assistant professor of Africana Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Transition grants were awarded to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Kate Riera<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, assistant professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Jane Case<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, assistant professor in the Joseph R. Biden, Jr. School of Public Policy and Administration, and <\/span><strong>Kristie LeBeau<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, visiting assistant professor in the same school<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Michael Hast<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, associate professor, and <\/span><strong>Xin Lu<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, professor, both in the Department of Mechanical Engineering<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Alex De Rosa<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, associate professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Monica Dominguez Torres<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, associate professor of art history<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A key resource supporting the authoring grants is Pressbooks, a publishing platform available to UD faculty through the Library, Museums and Press that provides the tools to create, edit and publish open textbooks and other educational resources at no cost to students. Aditya Dutta, a returning grant recipient who received an authoring grant in 2024, has worked with the Library, Museums and Press to develop <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/udel.pressbooks.pub\/vetbiochemistry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Veterinary Biochemistry<\/span><\/em><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the newest addition to the University of Delaware Pressbooks catalog. The comprehensive textbook provides foundational knowledge relevant to veterinary medicine and biochemistry students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Faculty interested in creating their own open resources can<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/udel.pressbooks.pub\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sign up for a University of Delaware Pressbooks account<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and begin developing and publishing OER.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; The University of Delaware Library, Museums and Press is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2026 Open and Affordable Teaching Materials grants.
