This project examines the role that activism has played in poets\u2019 lives and art over time while also exploring the notion of poetry as activism more generally.<\/p>\n<p>To accomplish the goal of engaging with archival materials in new ways, the Poetry as Activism project includes three priorities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Thematic digitization of materials from multiple collections housed in <a href=\"https:\/\/library.udel.edu\/special\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UD\u2019s Special Collections<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Recruitment of a <a href=\"https:\/\/library.udel.edu\/poetry-as-activism\/poet-in-residence\/\">Poet-in-Residence<\/a> who will draw inspiration from the collections to develop and host a workshop on the theme of poetry as activism<\/li>\n<li>Creation of a born-digital edited collection on the project theme that incorporates the digitized materials and will be published on the <a href=\"https:\/\/manifoldapp.org\/features\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manifold<\/a> platform<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Poetry as Activism Project is supported by a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mellon.org\/grant-programs\/public-knowledge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mellon Foundation Public Knowledge grant<\/a>, which supports the creation and preservation of the cultural and scholarly record.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Poetry as Activism project draws on the archival collections of twentieth-century American poets, with a focus on poets from historically marginalized groups, to engage with archival materials in new ways.
