ACCESS TO SPECIAL COLLECTIONS DURING SUMMER SESSIONS 2021

During the 2021 summer sessions at University of Delaware (June 7 – August 13), the Special Collections Reading Room will be open by appointment to members of the UD community (holders of a UD ONE card only).

For the safety of our staff and researchers, no more than 1 researcher will be allowed in the Reading Room at a time, and researchers and staff will be required to wear masks/cloth face coverings at all times.

The Special Collections Reading Room will be open the following hours by appointment during the summer sessions:

Monday, 9 am – 1 pm

Tuesday, 9 am – 1 pm

Wednesday, 1 pm –  5 pm

Thursday, 1 pm – 5 pm

Friday, READING ROOM IS CLOSED

Special Collections will be closed on the following days: July 4, 2021

SPECIAL COLLECTIONS GALLERY

The Special Collections gallery will be open by appointment during the hours listed above, and the exhibition Trail to the Voting Booth: An Exploration of Political Ephemera, will be on view during the summer. Members of the UD community (only holders of the UD ONEcard) may view the exhibition during the hours indicated above.  Access is limited to one patron at a time or two patrons per household.

Also, the exhibition A Book with a Claim to Beauty: Marking the 125th Anniversary of William Morris’ Kelmscott Chaucer will be on view from June 15 to July 15. The exhibition is on display in the Lincoln Collection exhibition case, on the second floor of Morris Library, next to the Special Collections gallery. The Lincoln Collection exhibition case can be viewed any time that Morris Library is open.

SCHEDULING YOUR VISIT

Appointments and materials must be requested in  advance. Requests must be made at least 3 business days in advance. Requests may be made via email (AskSpec <AskSpec@udel.libanswers.com>) or by phone (302-831-2229).  Following the receipt of a request, the requester will be contacted by a Special Collections staff member to set up an appointment and arrange for the retrieval of requested materials.  Following this consultation, your appointment will be confirmed, and you will receive instructions regarding visiting and using materials safely.
