Abstract:These three diaries were kept between 1927 and 1929 by Central High School (Washington, D.C.) student and aspiring writer Lee Anna Embrey. Embrey described in very detailed, descriptive, and articulate[...] language the events of her life. She wrote about family members, friends, school lessons, thoughts, and aspirations, as well as budding relationships. The diaries focus particularly on high school activities such as clubs and social events, with a special emphasis on the journalism club (Quill Clique) and Embrey's involvement in the Central HighBulletin, the school newspaper for which she served as editor-in-chief. The diaries also include newspaper clippings featuring news stories of interest to Embrey, her poetry, which was published in theWashington Post, and writings by her friends.

Abstract:This collection documents the lives of Newark, Delaware, residents George W. Murray, Jr., and Pauline E. Murray during World War II. The collection is small, yet it gives a glimpse[...] of both military service and the homefront experiences of the young married couple during war. Included are handwritten correspondence exchanged by the married couple while George Murray was stationed at Army Air Force bases on the continental United States and in Europe, illustrating life both at home and abroad during wartime. The collection also features photographs, Air Force Technical School study guides, informational pamphlets, and other items collected by George during his time in the military as well as greeting cards from family and friends, and postcards/souvenirs from travel.

Abstract:The Kim Rogers Burdick National Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route Association records contains 3.3 linear feet of documents, correspondence, new clippings, brochures, financial records, and multimedia materials gathered by Burdick during her[...] work with the Association (also known as W3R), which first began meeting informally in 1999 and was incorporated in the state of Delaware in 2004 with the purpose of identifying and marking the approximately 650-mile route traveled by colonial and French troops en route to their victory at the siege of Yorktown, Virginia, in 1781. In addition to the records of this national coordinating body, the collection also contains materials from the smaller state-level W3R organizations, in particular the Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route of Delaware (W3R-DE) and material related to the legislation enacting the Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route National Heritage Act of 2000.

Wise (1859-1937). Much of the[...] collection's material was compiled by English bibliographer and book collector John Carter (1905-1975), who co-authored with Graham Pollard (1903-1976) An Enquiry into the Nature of Certain Nineteenth Century Pamphlets (1934), which effectively outed Wise as a forger. The collection contains correspondence, including original correspondence of Wise's, manuscripts, page proofs, galley proofs, auction catalogs, clippings, scrapbooks, periodicals and articles, and ephemera.
