Abstract:Dorothy Miller (1931-2016) was an analytical chemist at DuPont who became vocal against the company's acquisition of White Clay Creek land with the intent of building a dam. With concerns[...] that the existing water supply in Delaware would not be suffcicient for the expansion of two DuPont production plants in Wilmington, the White Clay Creek Dam, which would have flooded 1,160 acres, was slated to suplly 71 million gallons of water a day. After the dam's failure, Miller continued to be active in the community, working with environmental groups throughout Newark, Delaware on issues related to urban development and transportation infrastructure. The collection, which spans from 1965-2010, documents community efforts led by Miller to preserve the White Clay Creek Watershed and her further work on water resources, residential/commercial and transportation projects throughout Newark, Delaware.
