The Kay Boyle papers relating to the Citizens' Mission to Cambodia, spanning from 1960-1979, consists of diaries, correspondence, books, periodicals, news clippings, reports, speeches, audio recording tapes, a photograph, and poems, documenting controversial aspects of the ground war in Vietnam and its possible expansion into Cambodia through the recorded thoughts and actions of Kay Boyle and the Citizens' Mission to Cambodia. Abstract:Dorothy Miller (1931-2016) was an analytical chemist at DuPont who became vocal against the company's acquisition of White Clay Creek land with the intent of building a dam. With concerns[...] that the existing water supply in Delaware would not be suffcicient for the expansion of two DuPont production plants in Wilmington, the White Clay Creek Dam, which would have flooded 1,160 acres, was slated to suplly 71 million gallons of water a day. After the dam's failure, Miller continued to be active in the community, working with environmental groups throughout Newark, Delaware on issues related to urban development and transportation infrastructure. The collection, which spans from 1965-2010, documents community efforts led by Miller to preserve the White Clay Creek Watershed and her further work on water resources, residential/commercial and transportation projects throughout Newark, Delaware.

Abstract:Thomas R. Carper (1947- ) served the state of Delaware as its member-at-large in the U.S. House of Representatives for five terms: he was elected as a Democrat to the[...] Ninety-eighth and to the four succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1983 - January 3, 1993). Carper served on the committees of Banking, Finance and Urban Affairs, and Merchant Marine and Fisheries, with memberships on several subcommittees. Carper was elected with the "budget conscious class of 1982" and was a fiscal conservative in his legislative efforts. Carper worked on the bailout plan for the savings and loan industry, correctly predicting the enormity of the problem. The Thomas R. Carper congressional pPapers reflect issues on banking, environmental and coastal concerns, fishing and tourism, and many other topics of interest to Delawareans in the 1980s. In addition to correspondence, memoranda, and office files, the collection includes reports, documents, and memorabilia from Carper's congressional career.
