In addition to the photographs, the collection includes newspapers, a certificate from the Bell Telephone Laboratories School for War Training, and an issue of the publication "Army Talks."

Abstract:Pulitzer Prize-winning American poet W.D. (William De Witt) Snodgrass (1926-2009) wrote 58 letters between 1944 and 1946 to his then-fiancée Lila Jean Hank after being drafted into the United States[...] Navy and stationed in Saipan. The letters described life on the naval base at the end of World War II and a long, anxious period of demobilization in the Pacific. Snodgrass was one of the early practitioners of the confessional style in American poetry with his first volume Heart's Needle (1959) written after his divorce from Hank in 1953 and inspired by the subsequent estrangement from their daughter.

Abstract:Dorothy Miller (1931-2016) was an analytical chemist at DuPont who became vocal against the company's acquisition of White Clay Creek land with the intent of building a dam. With concerns[...] that the existing water supply in Delaware would not be suffcicient for the expansion of two DuPont production plants in Wilmington, the White Clay Creek Dam, which would have flooded 1,160 acres, was slated to suplly 71 million gallons of water a day. After the dam's failure, Miller continued to be active in the community, working with environmental groups throughout Newark, Delaware on issues related to urban development and transportation infrastructure. The collection, which spans from 1965-2010, documents community efforts led by Miller to preserve the White Clay Creek Watershed and her further work on water resources, residential/commercial and transportation projects throughout Newark, Delaware.
