Blue book (1984-1985) includes personal notes on a philosophy of collage, and preparations for an essay on the medium. This book contains no drawings. Florentine book (1992, 1993) contains sketches and plans for collage series based on Australian aboriginal imagery; heavily illustrated with references to books on mythology and various mythic figures. Entries from 1983 include work on planned Aquarium and Punch and Judy series; includes detailed drawing for the Punch and Judy scenes. Also includes notes for a collage series on the egg and other objects.

Black book (1993, 1995, 1996, 2003) contains notes on series of collages using a mannequin. Also contains 1995 notes about aquarium collages. Many drawings are interspersed throughout the book. Gray book (Japanese paper cover, 1992-1995) contains plans with drawings for a series on masks. More Punch and Judy series plans are included with drawings; the entire series is sketched out as a narrative with much visual imagery. also included are plans and sketches for a Rilke "Duino Elegies" series.

Black book (1995, 1997, 1999) contains vignettes and notes on butterflies. The entries for 1999 include drawings related to machines, and philosophical reflections are interspersed through the book. Gray book (1997-1999) contains reflections on abstract circles (untitled, but later becomes Targets of the Millennium) and reflections what becomes the Moon as Text series. Sketches and plans for "soft machines," and drawings for spider myth and earth mother targets.
