Abstract:The James C. Booth papers consist of an extensive collection of Booth's personal, professional, and family papers. Included is a large collection of incoming and outgoing correspondence with colleagues[...] in the chemistry and geology professions; substantial correspondence with family members, notably his mother, Ann Bolton Booth, and his wife Margaret M. "Rettie" Booth; and extensive correspondence with and concerning professional and charitable organizations. Booth's work as a chemical consultant and assayer, as well as his work as Chief Melter and Refiner at the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia, is documented in correspondence and documents. A collection of James Booth's journals and notebooks, including his survey notes taken during the 1838 Delaware Geological Survey, are also present.

Abstract:Militia documents relating to Ralph Haskins, member of the Boston Hussars, a militia group formed in New England during the War of 1812, including a booklet titled, Rules and Regulations[...] of the Boston Hussars. Instituted November 20, 1810., six newspaper articles from the Boston Daily Advertiser, and three autograph appointments of Haskins to Sergeant (1811), Cornet (1814), and Lieutenant (1816). Other materials consist of financial autograph accounts of military and uniform related expenditures, all dating from 1803 to 1879.

Abstract:Thomas Shipley was a conveyancer and dealt primarily in the business of drawing deeds, leases, or other writings for transferring the title of property, and settling estates. His son, Walter[...] Penn Shipley, was born on June 20, 1860, was a Philadelphia lawyer. The Shipley Family Papers contain 229 items including correspondence, printed documents, receipts, and account books pertaining to Thomas Shipley and his business, as well as to his son Walter Penn Shipley. The bulk of the material relates to the years when Thomas Shipley was most active as a conveyancer, 1850- 1888; however, a few items date from the 1840s, and Walter Penn Shipley's correspondence reaches into the first decade of the twentieth century. This collection contains many documents which deal with title transfers, leases, and real estate sales in Philadelphia. In addition, the collection contains correspondence, documents, and receipts that relate to the settlements of the estates of Samuel J. Henderson, John W. Furlong, Joseph Banes, Reynolds Hamm, and John Phillips.

Abstract:The Roop-Rogers Family Papers consist of letters as well as miscellaneous documents and ephemera. The correspondence was exchanged between family members who were centered in the Seaford-Laurel area of Delaware[...] and in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The main recipients are the Bradley sisters, Jane Bradley Rogers and Susannah Bradley Roop. Their correspondents included their children, siblings, cousins, and aunts; and Susannah's husband, Dr. F.A. Roop and her mother-in-law, Marie J. Roop. Most letters in the collection contain family news but there are also some political and religious discussions.

Price papers consist of two linear feet of legal material. Price was a leading Philadelphia real estate lawyer, a fact reflected in the collection. The collection is divided into three series. Series I covers Price’s correspondence; series II contains material from his law office; series III consists of materials from Price’s activities outside his legal practice.

Abstract:Irish Theatre Journals is a collection of six bound volumes of clippings, programs, articles, and autograph notes regarding theater in Dublin, Ireland. Loose pages of [...] notes, and clippings, also related to Irish theater, complete the collection. he scrapbook/journals comprise a collection of research material, possibly for a book or articles on the history of theater in Dublin. Several of the journals contain autograph transcriptions of theater flyers or programs from the Theatre Royal Dublin (1868-1879), Gaiety Theatre (1871-1884), and Fishamble Street Theatre (1793). These transcriptions, 1868-1884, include titles of plays or musicals performed, lists of cast, dates and times for performances, and any other stage information given on the original item. The transcribed original theater programs and flyers provide rare information regarding performances at several Dublin theaters.
