Content Description

Between 1971 and 1995, American playwright Barrie Stavis (1906-2007) wrote approximately 30 letters to historian Stanley Weintraub (born 1929) in which he discussed mutual friends, his writing projects, and their families.

Also included is an issue of Dramatics from April 1986, featuring Stavis on the cover, a dust jacket for Stavis's play on labor leader Joe Hill, The Man Who Never Died, an undated black-and-white photograph of Stavis and Stanley Weintraub, and photocopies of correspondence between Stavis and Weintraub's son, David Weintraub, who taught at Vanderbilt University.

Many of the letters are also addressed to Weintraub's wife, Rodelle Weintraub. One letter in the collection is written by Stavis's wife, Bernice Coe.
