Big Changes Coming to Morris Library’s Lower Level
Blue Hens, big things are happening in Morris Library! In Spring 2026, the lower level will reopen as the Research Data and Design Commons (RDDC)—a brand-new space built to support your research, creativity and big ideas.
The RDDC will keep some key elements of the former Student Multimedia Design Center (SMDC)—video, podcast and poster support—plus offer new services focused on data management, visualization and analysis. Whether you’re working on a class project, creating content or diving into advanced research, the RDDC will have tools and staff ready to help.
What’s in it for you:
- Research Data & Visualization Lab – high-powered computers for data analysis and visual projects.
- Upgraded Studios – refreshed spaces for podcasts, video, digitization and design work.
- Poster Printing & Consultations – expanded support to help your work look its best.
During the transition:
- Regular printing is now on the first floor.
- Room A will upgrade to the Data Analysis and Visualization Lab (opening Spring 2026).
- Studios will get tech refreshes, including digitization tools and new creative software.
- The Film & Video Collection and gaming equipment will move to the first floor.
- Equipment kits will still be available for checkout.
The lower level remains open for collaboration and computer use, even outside service desk hours. Reach out to Daniel Peart at dpeart@udel.edu with any questions.
