UDStax: AI Chatbot for Library Services and Spaces
In Summer 2023, our Information Technology (IT) and Research and Engagement departments teamed up to pilot an innovative, AI-powered chatbot called UDStax. UDStax is designed to answer simple questions about library resources and services, while directing users to a librarian for more complex questions requiring human coaching and guidance. This pilot aims to gauge the campus community’s interest in using the chatbot and to assess the staff resources needed to maintain it effectively.
Our development experience has been published in an open-access, peer-reviewed journal:
UD Library AI-related Research Guides
