Students and employees who are unable to use print materials due to a disability can request PDFs of copyrighted texts through the HathiTrust Accessible Text Request Service. If a title is available in the HathiTrust Digital Library, even if it is labeled as “Limited (search-only),” the Library can supply a PDF of the work to registered users.
Registering for the Accessible Text Request Service:
- Current University of Delaware students and employees must first register for an accommodation with UD’s Office of Disability Support Services (DSS).
- Contact the Library’s Collections Sharing and Delivery Department, AskILL@udel.libanswers.com, to request registration for this additional service.
- Library staff will confirm your eligibility with DSS, then update your Interlibrary Loan account to reflect your eligibility.
- When you are ready to request items, log in to the Interlibrary Loan System. Complete the “PDF Request” form with information about the book. If it is available through the Accessible Text Request Service, you will receive an email within one working day with a link to download the PDF.
If you have any questions about the service or the process, please contact the Collections Sharing and Delivery Department.
