Museums staff are happy to work with you to set up research sessions and class sessions in the galleries in relation to current exhibitions. We are also happy to help with special research sessions or classes using collection materials not on view and currently in storage. These sessions are by appointment only. Please contact Museums staff at least two weeks in advance.
We are also happy to help consult with you about the topics of your classes or individual research to help identify collection objects that might be of interest.

Study Rooms

Dance class in Mechanical Hall Study Room
The Museums have two object study rooms. Room 201 is on the second floor of Old College down the hall to the west, and around the corner from the gallery. The Mechanical Hall Study Room is located within Mechanical Hall Gallery – towards the back of the main entrance gallery to the west, through a glass door. When the galleries are open, please see the gallery attendant on duty for assistance and with questions you might have about these spaces.
The study rooms can be used by faculty, students, and staff for class sessions or for individual research sessions. Researchers from the general community may also schedule research sessions. For all such classes and research sessions a member of Museums must be present.
