Requesting Materials
- Libraries should request University of Delaware Library materials through OCLC (our symbol is DLM) or through DOCLINE (our symbol is DEUCVF).
- Libraries without OCLC WorldShare ILL or DOCLINE access should request materials online. Please note that libraries must register for an account before requesting materials. Requests cannot be accepted over the telephone.
- Please verify ownership and availability in DELCAT Discovery before sending an ILL request.
- Individuals interested in obtaining University of Delaware Library materials should consult with their local library for interlibrary loan service.
Loan Policies

Loan Period
Returnables are loaned for 16 weeks. SHARES libraries are eligible for one 16 week renewal; all other libraries are eligible for one 60 day renewal. Recalled material must be returned immediately.
Audiovisual items are loaned at the discretion of Film and Video Collection staff for one week use.

Lost or Damaged Items
If returnable materials are lost or damaged beyond repair, a minimum $100.00 charge will be assessed to cover the loss of materials.

Billing Methods
- Billing via OCLC IFM is preferred.
- If invoiced, libraries will receive an invoice following shipment of materials.
University of Delaware Dissertations and Theses
- University of Delaware dissertations and theses written prior to 2005 may be loaned on ILL when a bound copy or microfilm is available.
- Dissertations submitted between 2005 and 2014 are available only for purchase from UMI Dissertation Express.
- Dissertations submitted from 2014 to the present are available online and freely accessible through UDSpace.
- Master’s theses submitted between 2005 and 2009 are available only for purchase from UMI Dissertation Express. Theses submitted from 2009 to the present are available online and freely accessible through UDSpace.
- Individuals interested in consulting University of Delaware dissertations and theses may purchase a copy through UMI or, for dissertations written prior to 2005, may request interlibrary loan service through their local library.
