There are three University Museums at UD: Old College Gallery, Mechanical Hall Gallery, and the Mineralogical Museum.
Each is open Tuesday – Friday, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm during the fall and spring academic semesters.
Please note that the Museums are closed most weekends. We are also closed during the summer, the week of Thanksgiving, winter break, spring break, and major national holidays. Please see the university’s academic calendar for more details.
The Museums galleries and study rooms are located in three separate buildings across campus.
Mechanical Hall Gallery and Old College Gallery are in neighboring buildings in the Old College Historic District just north of Main Street near the intersection with North College Avenue. Because of their proximity, it is not difficult to explore both Mechanical Hall and Old College in one visit.
The entrance to Mechanical Hall Gallery is on the ground level through a glass vestibule. A gallery attendant will open the two glass doors for visitors needing assistance. To contact the gallery attendant please call 302-831-8088. The study room for Mechanical Hall is located towards the rear of the main entrance gallery to the left. To access the Museums offices on the second floor of Mechanical Hall, please enter through the exterior white door near the “Offices” sign and with the words “Electrical Hall” above it. This office door is on the south side of the building. If you need assistance accessing the second floor offices in Mechanical Hall using the elevator, please ask the gallery attendant.
The Museums galleries in Old College are in the center of the second floor of the building, accessible through the handicap accessible ground-level door to the right of the main, front exterior stairs. There are interior staircases and an elevator in the center of the building. Room 201 is the Museums study room in Old College, just down the hallway and around the corner from the gallery entrance.
