UD Celebrates Newly Renovated Special Collections Space

More than 75 members of the University of Delaware community gathered Sept. 24 on the second floor of Morris Library to celebrate the ribbon cutting for the newly renovated Special Collections space.

The celebration marked the completion of a major renovation on the second floor of Morris Library, creating a welcoming new home for Special Collections and providing updated spaces for researchers, students, classes, exhibitions and visitors to engage with the University’s unique collections.

The event brought together many of the people who helped make the project possible, including donors and campus partners, as well as representatives from the architecture firm and University project team.

Guests enjoyed refreshments and live music from a three-member student jazz ensemble before gathering for the ceremonial ribbon cutting. Following the ceremony, guests had the opportunity to explore the newly renovated space and several exhibitions currently on view.

With its doors now open, the renovated space welcomes the UD community and visitors to discover the collections and the stories they hold.
