The University of Delaware Library provides access to a wide variety of electronic resources on computer workstations located throughout the Morris Library and branch libraries. Almost all of these electronic resources are also available to University of Delaware students, faculty, and staff in residence halls, classrooms, offices, and at home. Due to license restrictions, most electronic resources are not available from outside the Library to users who are not current University of Delaware students, faculty, or staff.
Connecting from on Campus
All library users may bring laptops into the Morris Library and the branch libraries. University of Delaware faculty, staff, and students can access the UD Network. General information on connecting a computer to the campus network is provided by the IT Support Center’s Connecting to the UD Network page.
Off-Campus Access and the Need to “Authenticate”
Due to licensing agreements, access to most Library databases and other electronic resources, such as electronic journals, is restricted to computers on the University of Delaware campus. If you are off-campus and a current University of Delaware student, faculty, and staff using the Library’s Web site, you might encounter links to licensed resources from the Library’s Web pages. The first time you click on such a link, you will be taken to the University’s Shibboleth Authentication Service page. After you enter your UDelNet ID and password, you will be authenticated as a University of Delaware user and will continue to your selected link. You generally need to do this for each electronic resource you access.
Visitors Connecting to the UD Wireless Network
Visiting students, staff, and faculty from other institutions can log into the UD wireless network if they are from a participating Eduroam member institution, but will not have access to electronic resources. Visitors need to use one of the Morris Library’s public computers to access electronic resources.
