
Open and Affordable Teaching Materials Grant Applications Now Open
Faculty and instructors can submit a proposal now through April 24, 2026
Faculty and instructors teaching an upcoming course at the University of Delaware are invited to apply for the Open and Affordable Teaching Materials grant, offered by the UD Library, Museums and Press.
The program supports course material affordability while empowering instructors to enhance and transform their courses using open, free or existing Library-licensed materials.
The grants are designed to reduce the cost of course materials for students and to encourage innovative teaching practices through the adoption, adaptation, or creation of open educational resources.
Grant Opportunities
Four types of grants are available to support a range of course sizes and instructional needs:
- Transition grant, small enrollment course enrichment (49 students or fewer):
Individuals or a team may apply for a $500 grant to incorporate open educational resources or Library-licensed materials into an existing course. - Transition grant, mid-sized enrollment courses (50 students or more):
Individuals or a team may apply for a $1,500 grant to integrate open or Library-licensed materials into their course. - Transition grant, large enrollment courses (150 students or more):
Individuals or a team may apply for a $5,000 grant to support the adoption of open or Library-licensed teaching materials. - Authoring an open educational resource grant. Individuals or a team may apply for a $5,000 grant to create an open educational resource by altering, editing, or remixing existing materials and/or developing original content.
