Submitting Personal Materials for Electronic Use
Please submit the Course Reserve form and PDFs of articles or book chapters via the UD Dropbox system.
If there are any questions or issues submitting the form please reach out to the Help Center at lib-reserve@udel.edu or contact your subject librarian.
Help Center staff will confirm receipt of your reserves reading list and material via email. Confirmation will include a password, assigned by the library, which you will need to provide to registered students in your course in order for them to access your reserves material in DELCAT.
A completed course reserve form must be submitted before submitting your materials. Both of these must be received before your request can be processed.
Typically it takes 7 business days to process material. At times of heavy demand, such as the beginning of the semester, processing material may take longer depending on workload. Course reserves are processed in order of receipt.
All reserved material will be removed from the library server at the end of the semester.
Best Practices for Scanning Materials
The University of Delaware requires digital content to comply with accessibility standards. To assist the Library in complying with accessibility standards, the following are best practices when preparing and submitting materials for reserve.
For the best results scanning documents:
- Confirm that the photocopier or scanner surface is relatively clean in order to minimize stray marks from appearing on the copy or scan.
- Confirm that you have a fairly legible original from which to photocopy or scan and that the photocopy or scan produced is fairly legible.
- Avoid writing on or highlighting the document or crossing sections out, if possible.
Bringing in Physical Material
Please bring any physical book, media or other items to the Help Center so they can be put on course reserve. Note: notify lib-reserve@udel.edu with your name and details about your items for reserve, prior to bringing them to the library.
All course reserve items will be removed at the end of the designated semester. Personal items should be picked up at the end of the term or they will be mailed to your campus address.
Digitizing Print Materials
The University of Delaware Library Reserves service scans paper copies of instructional materials submitted by faculty into PDF format and makes them available to University of Delaware students via DELCAT. Material to be scanned needs to be provided on 8.5″ x 11″ sheets of paper that can be processed by a scanner with an automatic document feeder. The University of Delaware Library will provide URLs to articles and book chapters requested for course reserve if these are held in its collection of electronic resources.
