Renovation Details
Featuring a prominent glass facade on the east side of the second floor of Morris Library, this renovated Special Collections space includes a new, bright entry leading to a reception space and adjacent reading room. The Mark Samuels Lasner Collection moved from the first floor to its new home adjacent and accessible from the new reading room. Two collaborative research rooms in the reading room allow small groups of researchers to connect to large display screens and experience the collection’s materials together. A new wall exhibition case facing outward into the atrium showcases unique materials from Special Collections.
The renovation encompasses approximately 5,000 square feet on the second floor of Morris Library.
Renovation Cost
The Special Collections renovation cost $9.2M in total. The fundraising goal was $4M.
