Each year, thousands of individuals use Morris Library’s resources, visit Museums exhibitions and publish their scholarly works through the UD Press. To accommodate these individuals’ evolving needs, Library staff must grow and develop with them. Your gift would support:
- Fellowship: The Library, Museums and Press offers fellowship opportunities to early-career librarians and graduate students to advance our mission and their professional development. For example, the Pauline A. Young Residency program is an early-career development opportunity for underrepresented racial and ethnic minorities which offers professional work experiences, mentoring and committee access. Our commitment to graduate fellowships ensures we are able to hire more graduate research assistance in Special Collections, UD Press, Reference & Instruction, Art Conservation and Museums. Innovative and novel graduate research positions like the Poet-in-Residence program advances knowledge on art, activism and social change through engaging with the Library’s archival collection of 20th-century American poets, with a focus on those from historically marginalized groups.
- Staff Endowments and Development: With your support, staff endowments will attract talented professionals to the organization and development opportunities will ensure existing staff are up-to-date on cutting-edge practices.
- Student Workers and Researchers: From digital scholarship to conducting hands-on research, students develop lifelong skills working in the Library. Because of your support, more students will experience these transformational and meaningful opportunities through paid student internships and undergraduate student research opportunities that they will carry into their careers.
