The Center includes two classroom-style computer hands-on instruction rooms (Rooms A and B), three GroupLink tables, a Gaming / VR Studio (Studio 1), three multimedia studios (Studios 2 through 4), a Digital Graphics studio (Studio 5), and a sound studio (Studio 6). When Room A and Room B are not being used for instruction, the rooms are open and heavily used by individual University of Delaware students, faculty, and staff.
Room Accommodations
- Room A: 25 Windows computers, including instructor station, 25 person capacity
- Room B: 19 Mac OS, including instructor station, 19 person capacity
- GroupLink Table 1: one LCD display with VGA and HDMI cables, 10 person capacity
- GroupLink Table 2: one LCD Display with HDMI cables, 10 person capacity
- GroupLink Table 3: one LCD Display with HDMI cables, and a VGA cable for one device, 10 person capacity
- Studio 1: Gaming / VR Studio, 6 person capacity
- Studio 2: 1 Windows computer, 6 person capacity
- Studios 3-4: 1 Mac computer in each, 6 person capacity
- Studio 5: 1 Mac computer and a Wacom Cintiq 24HD graphics display, 1 person capacity
- Studio 6: 1 Mac, audio recording equipment, 1 person capacity
The following policies govern the use of these rooms in the Student Multimedia Design Center:
Reservation of Hands-on Instruction Rooms
- Reservation of Room A or Room B may be made by faculty and staff of the University of Delaware for hands-on computer/multimedia-related instruction by the instructor to University of Delaware students, faculty, and staff.
- Reservation requests can be made by filling out a Reservation Request Form online. Reservation requests should not be left on voicemail.
- Requests for Room A or Room B should be made a minimum of two business days in advance of the desired reservation date or the reservation may not be processed.
- Separate arrangements need to be made for staff assistance in teaching. Requests for instruction should be made at least two weeks in advance. Faculty are encouraged to place their requests as early in the semester as possible.
- A reservation is not confirmed until the confirmation email is sent to the requester. Confirmation is for the room only. The confirmation should be checked carefully for accuracy. Center staff are not responsible for mistakes made in a reservation request.
- Both rooms cannot be reserved at the same time between the hours of 11 am and 4 pm during the regular semester.
- Consideration of reservation requests during the last three weeks of the semester(including finals week), the busiest time for students needing to use the site, will be on a case-by-case basis.
- In accordance with University policy, no classes may be held on Reading Days.
- Classes cannot be scheduled to meet on a regular basis in the rooms or studios of the Student Multimedia Design Center.
Reservation of GroupLink Tables
- Reservation of GroupLink Table 1 or GroupLink Table 2 may be made by faculty and staff of the University of Delaware for instruction by the instructor to University of Delaware students, faculty, and staff.
- It is expected that the instructor will use the LCD display during the class for instruction –whether it be from the instructor’s laptop or student laptops. Reservations are not to be made for classes who simply want a reserved space to meet to do group/project work.
- Please be advised that these tables are located in an open area where there are other non-reservable seats and tables.
- This area is not considered a quiet study area.
- Reservation requests can be made by filling out a Reservation Request Form online.
- Reservation requests should not be left on voicemail.
- Requests should be made a minimum of two business days prior to the desired reservation date.
- Reservation of the space is subject to usage of the computing site:
- Consideration of reservation requests during the last three weeks of the semester (including finals week), the busiest time for students needing to use the site, will be on a case-by-case basis.

Reservation of Studios 1 – 6
- Studio reservations can be made for multimedia work by individuals with a valid UD ID or who have a valid ID card from Delaware State University or Delaware Technical and Community College.
- Reservations can be made by contacting the Center staff by phone (302)831-8832 during operating hours or in person at the service desk. Reservation requests should not be left on voicemail.
- Studios are reserved in two-hour time blocks. Once the two hours are up, if the studio is not reserved during the time following your reservation, you may reserve the studio for an additional two-hour time block. Please “check-in” at the Service Desk 15 minutes prior to the end of your reservation to determine availability.
- Multiple studios may not be reserved by the same user or group, except by faculty using them for hands-on instruction or in order to use the Studio Mic Kit(s) and the crossover link between Studios #4 and #6. In this latter instance, both studios may be reserved concurrently under a single name. Upon check-in at the service desk, that user must be present and must check out (and utilize) at least one of the Studio Mic Kits. This type of dual-studio reservation may not be renewed at the end of the standard two-hour time block.
- Reservations of the studios may be made a maximum of one week in advance.
Cancellation of Reservations
- Please remember that this is a heavily-used area. If a reservation must be canceled, the person who made the reservation should contact the Student Multimedia Design Center staff as soon as possible.
- In the event a person or group scheduled for a reservation is more than 15 minutes late, the reservation will be canceled automatically and the room made available for general use.
