Sugary drink consumption is a contributing factor to child and teen obesity rates as well as other health conditions, such as diabetes and poor oral health. Sports and energy drinks are part of the problem.
During this talk, join Professor Amy Bleakley to explore research on what teenagers think about these drinks and how advertising for these beverages ties into consumer perceptions.
Amy Bleakley is a professor in the University of Delaware’s Department of Communication. She is currently the principal investigator on two research grants from the National Institutes of Health. The NIH R21 grant focuses on sports and energy drink consumption among adolescents. The NIH R01 grant is on using health messaging to increase minority enrollment in brain health registries for Alzheimer clinical prevention trials.
