Library, Museums, and Press Offers First Two Digital Badges
This fall, the Library, Museums and Press will launch its first two digital badges as part of UD’s digital badge program led by the Division of Professional and Continuing Studies.
Also known as micro-credentials, e-certificates and open badges, digital badges recognize short, skills-based noncredit and co-curricular learning. After completing the learning, participants receive a digital badge to recognize and provide proof of their accomplishments. These badges are digital tools that can be showcased on social media profiles and in resumes, cover letters, emails or as part of a professional portfolio.
Research Data Management Badge
Participants will learn fundamental strategies for managing research data across its lifecycle by applying a holistic approach to data management from project inception. They will learn to implement FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) for data sharing, emphasizing metadata, documentation, open file formats and clarity to enhance data usability. Additionally, participants will master the DMPTool to craft effective and comprehensive data management plans.
Digital Storytelling with Video
Participants will develop techniques for planning and editing a video. Across two workshops, they will explore storyboarding, effective approaches to sourcing and organizing media and the utilization of video editing tools to assemble a coherent and engaging narrative. Participants will also craft a 3-5 minute video, applying skills honed during the program into a digital object that can be included in resumes and digital portfolios.
These digital badges are free and currently open for enrollment by all UD students, faculty and staff.
