About this Event
The moon landing was faked. 9/11 was an inside job. Former President Obama wasn't born in the United States. Elections are rigged. These days, conspiracy theories seem to be everywhere. Contrary to popular conception, conspiracy theories are not solely the domain of a small group of tinfoil hat-wearing men who spend most of their time in bunkers.
During this virtual event, join Professor Joanne Miller as she discusses her research that examines why people believe conspiracy theories and the consequences of such beliefs for our democracy.
Joanne Miller is an associate professor in the University of Delaware’s Department of Political Science and International Relations as well as the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. She is a political psychologist who studies the processes by which citizens form political attitudes and become politically engaged, and on the psychological antecedents of belief in conspiracy theories. Her research has been funded by the National Science Foundation and the Pew Charitable Trusts.
Registration is required. Once registered, you will receive an email with details on how to join the event via Zoom.
