AGRIS is an international information system for the agricultural sciences and technology. It covers all technical, economic, and sociological aspects of agriculture, including forestry, animal husbandry, the aquatic sciences and fisheries, and human nutrition.

The literature covered includes conventional documents, such as serial articles, books, published conference proceedings, etc., but also non-conventional material, such as scientific and technical reports, theses, conference papers, etc., that are not readily available through normal commercial channels. Non-conventional materials constitute about 20% of the database.
