In response to a University-mandated budget reduction, the Library will strategically reduce spending on books, journals and databases during the 2020-2021 academic year (FY21).
Columbia International Affairs Online has been identified as a lesser-used database which may be canceled. In order to gather additional data to assist with the decision making process, we ask that you complete a brief survey about your use of this online resource. Thank you for your participation.
Columbia International Affairs Online (CIAO) is a comprehensive source for theory and research in international affairs. It includes a wide range of scholarship, such as working papers from university research institutes, occasional papers series from NGOs, foundation-funded research projects, and proceedings from conferences. Each section of CIAO is updated with new material regularly. Working papers, conference proceedings, policy briefs, and economic indicators are augmented every month. Links and resources, the schedule of events, and the response files are updated weekly. New journal issues and books are added as they become available.
CIAO is divided into the following categories: working papers, conference proceedings, journals (i.e., abstracts of journal articles), books, policy briefs, economic indicators, links and resources, schedule of events, and maps and country data. The content may be accessed in a number of ways—through the category home pages, which allows you to see what is contained in a category; through alphabetical indices (author, subject, title, and institution); and through the search engine, which allows you to search for files by fields (author, subject, title, date, and content area) and by keywords. Use the blue scaleable frame for easy navigation throughout the site.
The CIAO Atlas provides country information, regional and country maps, and flags. It also includes a statistical comparison tool. Click on “Maps/Country Data” on the navigation bar to access the CIAO Atlas.
